Efficiency Review of Operating Theatre Hub

Client: NHS Acute Trust

Description
The Trust was concerned that its newly designed operating theatre hub was not showing the efficiencies it was expected to produce. The project involved a full operating review of the theatre processes including scheduling, timings, procedures (pre & post operative) and staffing. Data on the entire operation was modelled and benchmarked against efficiency criteria. Staff (medical & non medical) views were collected, workshops undertaken and the final report presented to the board.

Operational workflow analysis, benchmarking, statistical analysis, workforce planning, workshops, presentations and report writing and the provision of tools to track and measure performance.

Highlights
In our post project audit the Director responsible reported that the major efficiency improvements seen in the intervening year were attributable to the project.
